Statement of Ashton Jefferson, student

Hello, my name is Ashton. I am 10 years old. This year I will be going into the fifth grade. Math is my favorite subject. I am a part of this case because I want to help schools respect all students. Right now, schools are not doing good things for many students. In the future they might care for students. ÌýAt my school, I felt sad a lot because they sometimes didn’t treat me right.Ìý

My teachers thought I was too active and different from the rest of the children because it was hard for me to stay in my seat. ÌýThey put me in a room by myself where it was lonely and there was nothing to do. It felt like child abuse.Ìý

I think the rules are backwards because they focus on putting kids out of school instead of helping kids stay in school. ÌýI hope the schools will change someday.Ìý

Thank you for listening.Ìý
