As we enter a critical election season, remember: Our votes will shape the future. Engaging in the electoral process is a fundamental right but also a profound responsibility. Whether it鈥檚 your first time at the polls or your 10th, following these steps will prepare you to vote confidently and effectively. Here's how you can actively participate and ensure your voice is heard in the upcoming elections.鈥�

Register to Vote Before Your State's Deadline
Ensure you're eligible to vote by registering before the deadline! If you're a U.S. citizen and will be 18 years or older by Nov. 5, 2024, visit Vote.org to check your registration status or begin the registration process.鈥�

Who can register to vote?
These are the qualifications to register to vote in Georgia:
- A United States citizen.
- A legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote.
- At least 18 years old.
- Not declared mentally incompetent by a court.
- Not now serving a sentence for a felony.
How do I register to vote?
You can register at any time. You must be registered at least 30 days before an election to vote in that election. For all elections, you may register in person the fifth Monday before Election Day, or by mail with your , which must be postmarked by the fifth Monday before Election Day. If that deadline falls on a holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.
You can register by mail using the form found on the if you have a driver鈥檚 license or identification issued by the Georgia Department of Driver Services.
You can register to vote in person at any of the following locations:
- Your county elections and registration office.
- Any state or federal agency offering government services, such as the Department of Human Services.
When can I vote?
You can vote in person on Election Day from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at your assigned polling place. If you are in line by 7 p.m., you will still be allowed to vote.
Can I vote early?
Georgia voters have three weeks before Election Day for early voting, including two Saturdays. Your county can also offer voting on Sunday. Runoffs have a shorter period for early voting.
You can vote at any early-voting location in your county. You can contact your county for early voting days, hours and locations.
Do I need an ID?
All Georgia voters casting a ballot in person at the polls must present one of the following forms of acceptable photo ID:
- Any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID, including a free ID card issued by your county registrar鈥檚 office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services.
- A Georgia driver鈥檚 license, even if expired.
- Student ID from a Georgia public college or university.
- Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency or entity of the U.S. government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state.
- Valid U.S. passport ID.
- Valid U.S. military photo ID containing a photograph of the voter.
- Valid tribal photo ID containing a photograph of the voter.
