Former ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Board Chair James McElroy (right) helps Henock Seraw prepare for his 1997 adoption hearing in San Diego. Henock’s father, Mulugeta Seraw, was murdered by members of the East Side White Pride gang in Portland, Oregon. In a landmark civil trial, the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ used an innovative legal strategy to hold the White Aryan Resistance and its founder, Tom Metzger, liable. McElroy, who worked as a lawyer on the case, adopted Henock years later.
